Community Outreach Event

The Education Committee promotes and facilitates learning by providing educational opportunities for Ozaukee Master Gardeners to increase horticultural knowledge, and promotes understanding of responsible gardening practices to the community.  This is mainly done by arranging for speakers for training, meetings, and special events, many of which are open to the public.

Generally, our meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Ozaukee County Administration Building.

Following is a list of some of the things this committee does:

  • Speakers for the monthly membership meetings
    Schedule speakers, coordinate required equipment, print handouts, arrange payment, and send thank-you
  • Master Gardener Training I
    Schedule speakers, organize the training, mentor the trainees

  • Advanced training
    Choose topic, schedule speaker and venue, set-up/clean-up, greet and facilitate

    • Seminars
    • “Hands on” Workshops
      As above, plus also get project supplies and print instructions
  • Field trips
    • Garden tours
    • Chicago Flower & Garden Show
  • Public Outreach
    • Library Displays
      Choose and research a topic, make a display and handouts, schedule with libraries
    • Speaker’s Bureau
      Keep a list of topics and OMG’s who can speak at other organizations’ meetings/events
