Easy way to tell the difference between invasive, unwelcome Dame’s Rockets, and native Tall Garden Phlox. They are beautiful, but Dame’s Rockets are invasive, non-native, and unwelcome in our landscapes. They look a lot like native andwelcome Tall Garden Phlox.

How do you tell them apart? The easiest way is to count the petals. Dame’s Rockets have four petals while Phlox have five petals. Phlox include the low growing mounding or creeping type, Woodland Phlox, and Tall Garden Phlox.
